The Government of India has created Section 144 to keep law and order, if it is implemented then peace and order can be maintained. To implement this section, the District Magistrate or District Magistrate issues a notification. Location information is given in this notification. After this, four or more than four people cannot gather together at that place. Along with this, no weapon of any kind can be taken to the place where Section 144 is imposed.
Article 19 (1) (b) of the Indian Constitution provides the right of all citizens to assemble peacefully and hold a public meeting or procession, but if all such actions are against the sovereignty and integrity of India, appropriate restrictions may be imposed by the State. Therefore, the appropriate authority of the State can prohibit the holding of a public meeting. Section 144 has been created for this very purpose.

- Police can arrest a person for violating section 144. This arrest is made under Section 107 or Section 151.
- For violation of Section 144, a provision of three years imprisonment has been made for the accused.
- A person violating this can be granted bail.
- The traffic at the place where Section 144 is imposed can be stopped.
- At present all legal rights rest with the District Magistrate or Magistrate.
- Violation of the section can result in both imprisonment for three years and fine.
- It is used to stop riots, looting, arson, violence, fighting and to restore peace.
