What is Motor Vehicle Act ?

The rules and regulations made for driving motor vehicles on the road and manufacturing vehicles are called Motor Vehicle Act. The central and state governments keep making amendments in it from time to time.

Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2019

The provisions made under this Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019 are as follows-

If a minor drives a vehicle and any incident occurs, then a fine of Rs 25,000 and a prison term of 3 years has been imposed on his guardian, for this he will be prosecuted under the Juvenile Act.
If vehicles of Ola and Uberare found violating the license conditions, then the company will be fined Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
Free treatment will be given to the injured in the accident.
According to this bill, it is mandatory for the driver and cleaner to have third party insurance. In case of death, a provision of compensation ranging from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 5 lakh was made. In case of death of a person due to an unknown vehicle, a compensation of Rs 25,000 to Rs 2 lakh will be provided and in case of injury, a compensation of Rs 12,000 to Rs 50,000 will be provided.
Motor Vehicle Accident Fund will be created under the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019, which will be used to insure all the drivers and provide treatment and compensation to the families in case of death.
Online verification of identity card made mandatory to obtain learning license.
Commercial license has been extended from 3 years to 5 years.
