The government has earmarked Rs 1.40 lakh crore in the budget for the Kusum scheme, this amount will be invested by the year 2022. The Government of India will contribute Rs 48 thousand crore in this scheme. Apart from this, the state government will also contribute the same amount. Farmers will have to pay only 10 percent of the amount to be spent in this scheme, 90 percent of the amount will be given by the government in the form of subsidy . About Rs 45 thousand crore will be arranged for Kusum scheme through bank loan.
First Step of Kusum Scheme
In the first phase of this scheme, the diesel pumps currently running will be converted into solar energy. The government has made arrangements to run 17.5 lakh irrigation pumps on solar energy. With this, consumption of diesel and import of crude oil can be banned.
