There have been two world wars in the world so far, in which millions of people have been massacred. At the time of establishment its number of members was 51. At present there are 193 members of the United Nations. What is Veto Power ?
When a proposal is presented for deliberation in the United Nations Security Council, the permanent members review it. If any of these nations express dissent regarding the proposal, it is not ratified. This authority is termed as the veto power.

Veto is a Latin word which means ‘I prohibit’. Veto is used by the members of the Security Council of the United Nations, the full form of veto is ‘I forbid’.

COUNTRIES WITH VETO POWER
There are 5 permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The first country is the United States of America or US, the second country is England or United Kingdom, the third country is France, the fourth country is Russia and the fifth country is China. Only they have been given the power of veto power, without their consent no proposal can be passed in the Security Council.

USE OF VETO
Veto has been used the most by the Soviet Union or Russia, it has used veto 120 times, followed by the United States of America 76 times. Britain has used it 32 times, France has used it 18 times. China has used it at least 5 times.
