Qualification to become Assistant Commandant

To qualify for the position of Assistant Commandant, candidates need to hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, irrespective of the subject.

age criteria

For Assistant Commandant positions, the age range for general category candidates is 20 to 25 years. However, candidates belonging to OBC, SC, and ST categories will receive relaxation in accordance with government regulations.

Selection Process

To become an Assistant Commandant, a candidate must pass the written examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Standard Test. Applicants who pass the written examination will have to appear in the PET/Medical examination. Candidates who qualify PET/Medical Test will be called for Interview/Personality Test, after which the applicants are selected on the basis of marks obtained in written examination and Interview/Personality Test.

Exam Syllabus for Assistant Commandant

The examination for becoming Assistant Commandant is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Assistant Commandant examination is conducted in two parts, in the first phase there is a written examination, under which there are two question papers, first is objective type paper of General Ability and Intelligence, second paper is Comprehension, which is in both Hindi and English. Under this, questions related to essay and general studies are asked. The candidates who pass the written examination are given medical standard test and physical efficiency test.

Assistant Commander PET Medical Examination

1. After passing the written examination, the candidate has to appear in the physical demonstration test, in which tests are taken in 100 and 800 meter race, long jump, high jump, shot put etc.

2. Male candidates have to complete the 100 meter race in 16 seconds and women in 18 seconds, 800 meter race for men in 3 minutes and for women in 4.45 minutes.

3. Three chances are given in both three and a half meter high jump and shot put, similarly in shot put which is 7.26 kg, the test of which is about four meters, the successful candidates in this medical test are called for interview.

Interview

The interview for the post of Assistant Commander is of 200 marks , in which the skills and abilities of the candidate are assessed, after which they are provided with the appointment letter.
