How to join NCC
National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a military training, under which students are given preliminary training to join the army, after this training the students are given exemption in the Indian Army Recruitment Examination.

what is ncc
NCC is an organization through which students studying in colleges and universities are taught to discipline their lives through training and are also made responsible citizens. This is a military training, under which students are trained on the lines of security forces. Its important facts are as follows-
- The National Cadet Corps has been established under the National Cadet Corps Act XXXI 1948. (Passed in April, 1948, established on 16 July, 1948)
- The motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline”
- Its symbol is a gilded NCC crest with the letters “NCC” on a seven-color background of red, blue and light blue.
- The red color in the NCC crest is symbolic of the Army.
- The dark blue and light blue colors in the NCC crest are symbolic of the Air Force.
- The lotus flower in the NCC crest is symbolic of the 17 state directorates.
- NCC Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of November.
- At the national level, NCC is under the Ministry of Defence.
- NCC in all states is under the Ministry of Education.
- Finance/funds for NCC are arranged by the Central and State Governments.

NCC certificate
Three types of certificates A, B and C are provided in NCC.
NCC’s ‘A’ certificate is for students below 15 years of age, the maximum age to obtain ‘B’ certificate is 17 years, after two years of obtaining ‘B’ certificate, students can obtain ‘C’ certificate, A ‘Certificate does not allow students to attain a higher rank, at the most they can go up to CSM (Company Sergeant Major), whereas B Certificate can lead to JUO and C Certificate can lead to CSUO (Company Senior Under Officer) , from NCC Students with ‘C ‘ get certificate help in getting various government jobs besides army and paramilitary forces.
NCC course syllabus
NCC classes are conducted separately in colleges and universities, which are scheduled for 40 minutes each day. Under this training, students are taught drills, in which they have to undergo many types of physical exercises. Apart from this, they are taught in detail about field crafts like social service, man management, map reading, opening and assembling a rifle and its spare parts. By conducting such drills, leadership qualities are developed in them.

How to join -NCC
Candidates holding ‘C’ certificate of NCC who want to join Army (GD) are exempted from appearing in written examination Part-I and are placed at the top in the merit list. But for Soldiers (Clerk, SKT/Tech/NA) there will be no exemption in Part-I of the written examination, but to get a place in the overall merit list, they will be given 10% additional marks of the total marks of the written examination (Bonus) will be given.
As far as NCC ‘A’ and ‘B’ certificate candidates are concerned, the bonus marks to be awarded for overall improvement in the merit list of the candidate is as follows –
1. Soldier General Duty Category (GD) – On the basis of total marks obtained in physical and written examination, 8% bonus marks will be given to NCC ‘B’ certificate holders and 5% bonus marks will be given to ‘A’ certificate. holders.
2.Sainik Tech/NA/SKT/Clerk- Bonus marks will be given as per the percentage based on the total marks obtained by the candidate in the written examination only.
Note: It is clarified that if a candidate is the son of an ex-serviceman/serving soldier and is both an NCC certificate holder, he will be given the benefit of only one type of relaxation.

Sailor
Special marks facilities are provided to various NCC certificate holders for direct recruitment of sailors.
Certificate ‘A’ – 2 marks
Certificate ‘B’ – 4 Marks
Certificate ‘C’ – 6 marks

Coast Guard
The cut-off percentage is relaxed by a maximum of 5% marks out of the total marks obtained in the graduation examination for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (‘A’ Grade) holders at the time of application for recruitment of Assistant Commandant.
