Currently, two types of milk are available in the market. First is A1 milk and second is A2 milk. The cows used to give these two types of milk are also different because, the cows imported to India for giving A1 milk are known as Hybrid, Jersey cow, Holstein or other names, which are now also found in India. For A2 milk, there are A2 type of cows, known as Desi cows, which have less milk production. Talking about milk sales, nowadays A1 milk is being used more in India and around the world, because the number of hybrid cows is increasing in the country, and people prefer to rear these cows more and produce more milk at a lower cost.

As we know, milk includes a high amount of calcium and protein. There are many types of proteins, one of them is casein. A1 and A2 milk are types of beta casein protein found in cow milk. We can say that milk contains 80% casein protein. Milk of Jersey cow imported from the United States contains both A1 and A2 beta casein proteins. Milk of Holstein cow imported from Europe contains A1 protein. Most of the commercially produced milk and milk products contain only A1 beta casein.

The cows found in India are mostly A1 milk producing cows. These cows are also found in large numbers in foreign countries and are known as hybrid cows. A different type of amino acid is found in the milk of A1 milk producing cows, which is called histidine.

If we talk about A2 milk, this type of milk is given by Indian cows. Along with casein protein, a special type of amino acid is also produced in it, which we call proline. The protein present in milk is converted into peptides, which later takes the form of amino acids. Amino acids are very important for our health, but these amino acids are found in A2 cow’s milk. The cows that come under this are Gir cow, Sahiwal cow, Lal Sindhi cow and Rathi cow.

It contains ample amount of proline which works by blocking the entry of BCM 7 in our body. BCM 7 is a small protein known as opioid peptide. This is such a protein which our body cannot digest properly. Due to which many types of problems start arising in our body.

What is Opioid Peptide (BCM 7)

In the research done on BCM 7, the researchers said that A2 milk is easy to digest. A1 beta casein milk contains a higher amount of BCM 7. If this milk is given to children, then the chances of them having diabetes increases. To get complete information about this, researchers in Scandinavia and Netherlands have done research on this. Which revealed that BCM 7 is harmful for health.
